Angus Expressive Arts Project
(Summer 2021)
An award winning COVID-19 Recovery project created by Angus Council Vibrant Communities Team in partnership with local artists, sponsored by Creative Scotland. Young people attended a varied programme during the summer holidays. Groups in Arbroath and Carnoustie created comic books with creative practitioner Abbey Craig.
The young people used digital art and drama to explore their experiences of the pandemic, producing comic books with the digital app, Comic Life. They created scenarios, scripts, storyboards, props and scenery that they photographed, before editing their comics for print. Carnoustie’s comics were distributed to 1st year pupils at the start of the new term and to local health centres.
The Expressive Arts project received the Group Achievement Award at Angus Youth Awards 2022.
